We have discovered since the arrival of the RhB Crocodile that they are somewhat delicate. People are justifiably concerned as to how to handle the delicate little machines to ensure they have a long and happy life with their new pet Croc. So, with the help of my stunt hand and a phone camera, I'll show you the easy way to get to your "Croc" out.
After opening your box like an excited kid on Christmas day, you are met with the sight of your beautiful Croc and it's carriages. But that loco looks very snug in that foam doesn't it? luckily Kato have you covered with an ingenuous pull tab! Just give it a lift and you will free the Croc!

Once your Croc is free, it is a simple case of lifting the foam surround directly up and away from the loco so it is sitting happily on it's side.

Nobody likes getting dragged around by their nose and the Croc is no different. Always hold your loco gently by the main body. Those noses may look cute, but they will be most unhappy if you try and hold the entire loco's weight through the very small plastic pin holding it together, sometimes snapping in extreme cases. This part is not available as a spare as it is part of the chassis molding so be extra careful!

Now place the little guy on the track, hook up those coaches and enjoy!
When returning the loco to the box, perform these steps in reverse order and take extra care when slotting the foam back around the Croc as to not to catch the pantographs (which must be folded down) and the fine roof detail.
So you just got the loco without the box set and are a little miffed at this point as to why you didn't get a handy pull tab in your box. Fear not, for there is a simple method of removal!
Simply take the lid and bubble wrap off and carefully turn the box upside down in your other hand.

After a couple of gentle shakes or taps on the box, you will have a little baby crock laid on your hand!

Then simply pick it up by the body only, not by the nose (as mentioned above) and place it on the track.

One thing to be aware of when returning your loco to the box is to remove the foam from the box so it has a little flex. This will help you keep the fine roof detail from snagging on the foam and support the loco as you place it back into its case.

I do hope this guide gives you a little more confidence in handling your Croc and that in time you'll feel like a regular Kato Steve Irwin... just without the big stick.
