Description
The 300 Series was developed for 270 km/h Shinkansen operation and entered service in 1992. It introduced a lighter aluminium-alloy body, improved aerodynamic shaping, bolsterless bogies, VVVF inverter control and regenerative braking, becoming closely associated with the original Nozomi services between Tokyo and Shin-Osaka.
This special KATO 16-car set represents a later 300 Series 0 formation from around 2010, based on a formation from Tokyo No. 2 Vehicle Office. It recreates the later appearance with sliding side doors, reduced pantograph equipment and single-arm pantographs.
The set is a complete full-length formation for recreating Tokaido and Sanyo Shinkansen scenes from the era when the 300 Series worked alongside later high-speed types.
