Description
●Shinano Railway The SR1 series is the first new train operated by Shinano Railway between Karuizawa and Myoko-Kogen (the Shinonoi to Nagano section is under the jurisdiction of JR East). It was introduced based on the E129 series, which has a proven track record in snowfall in the Niigata area. The railway, which was established in conjunction with the construction of the Nagano-Hokuriku Shinkansen, has been operating the 115 series transferred from JR since its opening in 1997, but in 2020, the SR1 series was newly introduced as a replacement. First, three liner cars were introduced, and the following year, general-use cars were introduced, with four 200 series trains and three 300 series trains without defrosting pantographs.
◆The 200 series, equipped with two pantographs, is now available from the SR1 series that is active on the Shinano Railway. It is a compact two-car train, and is also recommended for operation on small layouts. You can also enjoy a four-car formation made up of two trains coupled together, as seen in the real thing.
