After that, with the appearance of the E231 series, it was transferred to the Nagano area in 2013, and at that time, the 0th and 2000 units were shortened to six cars, the 1000th and 3000th cars were shortened to three cars, and at the same time, single-arm pantographed and cold-resistant equipment were applied, and the Chuo Main Line, the Shinonoi Line (between Tachikawa and Nagano), the Oito Line (between Matsumoto and Shinano Omachi), and the Iida Line (between Matsumoto and Shinano Omachi), etc.
