This is the E721 series, which operates on the AC electrified sections of JR East's southern Tohoku region. This model was introduced in 2007 for the purpose of renewing JR East Sendai Branch's rolling stock and for operation on the Sendai Airport Access Line. To accommodate the low-floor platforms of regional lines, the E721 features a low-floor body structure with small-diameter wheels and step-free entrances, making it barrier-free. Following the previously released 0/500 series (two-car formations), the 1000 series, a four-car fixed formation, was introduced in 2016. This model offers a wide variety of variations, including vehicles owned by third-sector companies with the same manufacturer and basic design.
Three types will be released this time: a two-car 0 series set and a four-car 1000 series set with one-man operation, and a special six-car set consisting of the 0 and 1000 series without one-man operation.
This train is currently in service on the Tohoku Main Line (Shin-Shirakawa to Ichinoseki), Joban Line (north of Haranomachi), Senzan Line (Sendai to Yamagata), and Ban'etsu West Line (Koriyama to Aizuwakamatsu). This is a fun model that can be coupled with the popular 701 Series 1000 (Sendai livery) and performed alongside the HB-E300 Series "Hinabi" and "SATONO." Enjoy the modern-day Tohoku railway scene with this model train.
Main Features
2. The different stripe colors of the 0 and 1000 series are beautifully reproduced (0 series: green, white, and red; 1000 series: green, white, and pink), and the car number, affiliation, and car number are printed.
3. The size of the passenger window opposite the toilet, which differs depending on the series, is reproduced.
4. Head and tail lights are illuminated (with a switch to turn them off). Each car has four headlights.
5. The pantograph is a newly created PS109 type with a round pipe.
6. The bogies are DT72/TR256 for low-floor vehicles. Like the actual train, it uses small-diameter wheels (φ5.2mm), realistically recreating the 2,100mm wheelbase of the actual train. Snowplows are installed.
7. A dummy coupler with a coupler cover is installed at the front of the leading car.
⑧ The coupler at the front of the leading car can be coupled with the 701 series. The intermediate coupling surface uses a body-mounted close-coupling coupler (without hook).
⑨ The skirt reproduces the different inspection cover positions for KuMoHa E721 and KuHa E720, and the presence or absence of inspection covers depending on the series.
⑩ The front display is pre-installed with "Sendai", and replacement front displays: "Shin-Shirakawa" and "(plain)" are included. Destination display stickers are included.
