The 883 series was introduced in 1995 with the aim of speeding up service on the Nippo Main Line and improving service. It was JR Kyushu's first pendulum-type train and Japan's first commercial AC pendulum-type train. Its distinctive design varies depending on the year of manufacture. Since 2005, the trains have undergone renovations, resulting in the current metallic blue exterior. To celebrate its 30th anniversary in 2025, the first train (AO-1) will be decorated with a commemorative livery, scheduled to run until the end of the year.
Among the 883 series trains currently operating as the "Sonic" limited express, this time we are releasing the AO-1 train, featuring a unique 30th anniversary livery, featuring three illuminated fog lights, a departure from previous models. The 30th anniversary logos and fog light in the center of the front are also reproduced. You can enjoy it together with a wide range of rolling stock products that are in use in the Kyushu region, such as the popular 10-2090 787 series "36 Plus 3", 10-1540 787 series <Around the Kyushu>, and 10-1952 885 series (2nd batch) <Around the Kyushu>.
