Izukyu Railway's 2100 series, nicknamed "Resort 21," debuted in 1985 as a vehicle designed and manufactured as "a proposal for railway vehicles moving into the 21st century." The lead car features a large front window and stepped observation seating, and window-facing seats allow passengers to enjoy the ocean view. The ocean-facing windows also feature large, continuous observation windows. The paint colors are different on the left and right sides, creating a unique vehicle that gives a very different impression depending on the viewer.
The popular Izukyu Railway 2100 series "Resort 21," which celebrated its 40th anniversary in July 2025, is making its long-awaited return. This model recreates the original tricolor livery with gray skirts, recreating the paint color scheme before the "Izukyu" logo was added. You can enjoy it together with other rolling stock products that you can encounter between Tokyo and Izukyu-Shimoda, such as the currently popular 10-1848~1850 211 series 0/2000 series and 10-1954~1956 113 series 2000 series Shonan color (JR specification).
