Description

The E3 Series was introduced for the Akita Shinkansen as a 'mini-shinkansen' designed to run through from the high-speed Shinkansen network onto converted conventional lines. The compact body profile allowed the train to work over the Tazawako and Ou Main Line sections, while still coupling with full-size Shinkansen sets on shared high-speed sections.

This KATO set represents R22 formation in the original 'Komachi' style, with the white, pink and metallic grey colour scheme and printed side logos. It is a useful companion to E2, E5 or other Shinkansen sets for coupled running scenes.
