Description
The 24 Series 'Hokutosei' was one of Japan's best-known Blue Train sleeper expresses, introduced in 1988 between Ueno and Sapporo with the opening of the Seikan Tunnel. Its deluxe service used a mixed JR Hokkaido and JR East formation, including lobby space, private sleeper compartments, the 'Grand Chariot' dining car and a power car.
Regular operation ended in March 2015 during preparations for the Hokkaido Shinkansen, with special services continuing until August that year. KATO's deluxe formation represents the train around 2010, with JR Hokkaido cars 1-6 and JR East cars 7-11 plus the power car.
This is the 6-car add-on set for completing the deluxe Hokutosei formation alongside the 10-831 basic set and a suitable locomotive.
