HO Metra F40PH: The Metra F40PH is a reliable and iconic diesel-electric locomotive that has been the backbone of Chicago’s commuter rail system since the early 1980s. Built by EMD, these locomotives are known for their distinctive “bulldog” nose, durable construction, and dependable performance. With a power output of 3,000 horsepower, the F40PH was designed to handle the stop-and-go nature of commuter service. Over the years, Metra has upgraded many of these units for modern operation resulting in many paint schemes over the years.
