Description
PROTOTYPE
A total of 4 'Small England' locomotives were built by George England & Co between 1863 and 1867, and three remain in existence today. They will be familiar to anyone who has visited and ridden on the marvellous Ffestiniog Railway in North Wales. The "Small England" locomotives are synonymous with the Ffestiniog Railway and will make a very attractive and appealing model of a classic Welsh narrow gauge engine.
MODEL
Main features
● OO-9 narrow scale model with 1/76 and gauge of 9 mm
● By adopting a coreless motor, smooth and stable running unique to KATO steam locomotive products is realized. With traction tires, it is possible to tow three passenger cars (PECO product) on a flat section

● Reproduce the main rod, side rod, red rods of the first driving wheel
● Arnold coupler standard equipment, PECO specification coupler included for replacement
● Minimum passing radius - Locomotive single line : R117, locomotive + passenger car (PECO product): R216
Two versions are available:

51-201-B Prince
The most suitable track for these locomotives is Kato Unitrack and if you require tight curves which these locos are used to why not use Kato Unitrack Compact track?

Very good product. Main body is iron with coal wagon is plastic. Ability to change couplings is a plus. Changed them to Arnold ones as many wagons/coaches I use have them.

Seventh month review. This is a delicate locomotive to be handled with care. Wheel side rods came off in my case when screw holding the roods came off. If you find the screw and able to do repairs then it is fine. Myself was not able to do the latter. Used blue tack to hold side rods on the main body to keep out of way. I found that it does not run as smoothly as when bought. It stammers on certain parts of track which trams or pocket line locomotive runs smoothly.
In hindsight I would not have bought this locomotive for my layout. I found resin printed body with Kato product 11-109/110 works much better.

Hi CV
Should any issue arise with models we are only an email away for advice. In this case we would have informed you that PECO (who are the main distributor of this loco in the UK) offer free coupling rod pin replacements should you contact them. They have been redesigned and are a push fit plastic pin that just require pushing back in. We can in some cases offer repair services too.
You may find that with a much shorter wheelbase than pocket line equipment you will need to clean the wheels (including the tender wheels) much more frequently to avoid poor running. Unfortunately this is the curse of small wheelbase locomotives.
