Description
-The sleeper express "Hamanasu" is a sleeper express train operated by JR Hokkaido that ran from Aomori to Sapporo via the Seikan Tunnel. It was introduced when the Seikan Tunnel opened in 1988, and was a popular train that combined cars with a variety of facilities, including B-class sleeper cars, carpet cars, and dream cars (reclining seat cars) with reserved and unreserved seats, but was retired with the opening of the Hokkaido Shinkansen in March 2016. The basic train consisted
of a 7-car formation consisting of 5 14-series seating cars and 2 sleeper cars, but during busy periods, it was also seen being used in a maximum of 12 cars by adding more cars.
Main Features
â‘¡ Suhanefu 14 reproduces the gabled (folded roof) and white stripe type called Hokkaido type, the 550 series, which was modified from Ohanefu 25.
â‘¢ Reproduces Oha 14 515 (carpet car) with its distinctive window arrangement. Not only the unique vehicle form, but also the interior with a two-tiered floor is reproduced.
⑤ The middle part of the formation is equipped with a body-mounted sealed self-coupling coupler. The locomotive coupling side of Suhanefu 14 552 and Suhafu 14 502 is equipped with an Arnold coupler as standard. A replacement knuckle coupler is included. Also, a replacement knuckle coupler for Suhafu 14 557 is included.
â‘¥ The tail lights and train marks of the Suhanefu and Suhafu in the basic set light up. Car No. 3, SuHaFu 14 557, has a switch to turn off the lights.
⑦Convertible train marks include three types: "Hamanasu", "Kaikyo" and "Express".
â‘§Side direction signs are plain white. Comes with stickers showing destination indications and signs.
⑨Head marks for DD51 and ED79 are included.
