Important

This item uses Train Trax's website pre-order function.  For simplicity of processing, each product will need to be placed on a separate pre-order as they will probably arrive at different times. If more than one pre-order does arrive at a similar time then it will be possible to combine shipping charges.

Add to your basket as normal. You can then choose to provide card details to be held securely by the preferred payment provider 'Stripe' ready for when the item arrives. You will not be charged until despatch.

You will receive an acknowledgment of your order. I will send an invoice when your order is passing through UK Customs, you can then pay the invoice online using any card or BACS.

KATO THE ROYAL EXPRESS Izukyu 2100 Series

THE ROYAL EXPRESS appeared in 2017 as a cruise train linking the Tokyo/Yokohama area with Izu. It was converted from Izukyu 2100 Series Alpha Resort 21 stock and carries a metallic royal blue body with gold lining and logos.

The real train normally operates between Yokohama and Izukyu-Shimoda, with Tokyu organising the tour and the railway companies operating over their own routes. Since 2020 it has also worked limited-period tours in Hokkaido, Shikoku and the Tokai area, sometimes shortened and hauled with a power car. This KATO special project release recreates the 8-car electric train form.

Key features and details

• Special project 8-car set representing the train as operating in electric multiple unit form around 2026.
• Glossy royal blue body with gold lettering, lining and logos reproduced.
• Side window decorations are reproduced, including differences between the two sides of the train.
• Represents the pantograph-equipped electric train condition, without cab-end couplers or underfloor equipment covers at the driving cab ends.
• Different window layouts on each side and individual continuous window treatment are reproduced.
• Visible interior details include table lights in cars 1, 2, 5, 6, 7 and 8.
• Pianos inside cars 2, 5, 6 and 7 are reproduced.
• Sheets are included to represent paintings, curtains and blinds visible behind the windows.
• Headlights, tail lights and fog lights illuminate using warm white LEDs; fog lights light in yellow. The light above the cab remains unlit, as on the real train.
• Slotless motor for smooth, quiet running.
• KATO close couplers without hooks fitted between intermediate cars.
• Bookcase and sleeve use a special design for this release.
