SEKI 3000 Coal Freight Car 2-Car Set(with coal)
The Seki 3000 is a hopper car that was mainly used for transporting coal from coal mines to shipping ports in Hokkaido, and its distinctive appearance is that it has a yellow band on the side of the car body indicating a speed limit of 65 km/h and the words ``Prohibited outside Hokkaido''. . A 2,400-ton coal train, consisting of about 50 Seki 3000 cars, each weighing 14 tons and fully loaded with 30 tons of coal, heads from coal-mining areas called "Yama" such as Yubari and Ashibetsu to shipping ports such as Otaru and Muroran. You could see it in action driven by locos such as the D51. In particular, the Muroran Main Line from Iwamizawa to Oiwake and Tomakomai to Muroran has a gentle downward slope and flat line section, and the D51 Hokkaido-class single-engine pulls Japan's heaviest freight train, making it popular among steam locomotive fans.
