Description
The EF81, a representative AC/DC electric locomotive of the Japanese National Railways (JNR), was built in 1968 and continued to serve as a versatile locomotive for passenger and freight services even after the transition to JR. The EF81, currently housed at JR East's Aomori and Nagaoka rolling stock centers, is characterized by its eaves (icicles) above the front windows and its red No. 2 livery. In recent years, the couplers have been replaced with double-headed couplers, allowing it to pull not only passenger cars but also electric trains directly, and it has also begun to pull supply trains transporting newly manufactured and decommissioned cars. It continues to be active today, pulling the E26 series "Cassiopeia Cruise" and "Cassiopeia Journey" sleeper express trains. This double-headed coupler-equipped EF81, which is used to pull various trains, including supply trains, is being reproduced. Enjoy this set alongside other products, such as the 10-1545 Series 205-5000 Musashino Line (Final Train) and the 10-2112/2114 Series E26 "Cassiopeia Cruise"/"Cassiopeia.
â—† This reissue is perfect for collectors seeking operational realism and flexibility. Whether for layouts focused on express services or freight operations, the EF81 stands out as a reliable, long-range hauler with strong collector appeal.
