Description
EF55 followed the mechanism of EF53 and appeared in 1936 (Showa 11) in the global streamline boom of the early Showa era. The front side is streamlined, and the rear side is an old-fashioned DC electric locomotive for passengers that features a gable-shaped appearance that considers the beauty of organization with passenger cars and streamlining.
The first of the three cars manufactured was kept as a quasi-railway monument even after it was scrapped in 1964, but the car registration was restored in 1986. It was popular with many people by pulling 12 series, old passenger cars, joyful trains, etc., mainly on the Takasaki Line, Shinetsu Main Line, Joetsu Line, etc.
Operation ended in January 2009, and it has been preserved and exhibited at the Railway Museum in Omiya in 2015.
- After returning to the car registration in 1986, commercialized in the form of when it was active on the Takasaki Line, Shinetsu Main Line, Joetsu Line, etc.
- Accurately reproduces the streamlined body full of speed
- Realizes running with a minimum passing curve radius of R282 while reproducing the same appearance as the actual vehicle.
- The appearance after 2002 can also be reproduced (processing required: with mounting guide concave hole inside the body)

As usual Kato has delivered with this model!
A super recreation of one of the most unique looking electric locomotives in the world let alone on the JNR system, it is quiet & smooth when running and handles the UniTrack turnouts and corners with ease.
Reasonably weighty this has happily hauled my longest express train (15 bogey passenger cars) and looks simply stunning doing so.
