Description
The EF56 was born in 1937. It is a passenger DC electric locomotive that represents the prewar Japanese National Railways along with the EF57. It is the first electric locomotive equipped with a steam generator (commonly known as SG) for heating passenger cars, eliminating the need to connect heating cars. Among the 12 EF56s manufactured, the primary type (1 to 7) features a rounded welded body, and was seen in action on the Tohoku Main Line in later years.
Combined with the simultaneous reproduction of the 10-898 mail/luggage train <Tohoku> and a single luggage car, it is ideal for reproducing the luggage train seen on the Tohoku Main Line and the regular train with old passenger cars. is.

This is a weirdly complex model, with a surprising level of detail hidden among the model - while the colour might seem off putting at first, the unique nature really helps sell the model as an 'ugly duckling'. However, the sheer number of bogies/wheels does cause a noticeable pain in putting this model on the track even with the assistance of the re-railer. The working headlamps and metallic finish show the quality, although I would recommend being careful around the end hand-rails as they seem to be a possible point of 'breakage' and as they are so prominent they do stand out if damaged or misplaced. The metallic additions were a nice surprise and make this model a sure-buy if you like collecting the weird & wonderful!
