Description
●The Hokkaido Shinkansen opened on March 26, 2016. The H5 series, which appeared with the advance opening of the Shin-Aomori to Shin-Hakodate-Hokuto section, will be updated to the current specifications and commercialized. The H5
series is based on JR East's E5 series with some interior and exterior changes. The basic appearance and paint color are similar to the E5 series, but it has a lavender-colored stripe called "Saika Purple", and the symbol mark with Hokkaido and Gyrfalcon motifs on the side is decorated on the five cars in the formation. In 2017, some of the seats in cars 2, 4, 6, and 8 were changed to large luggage storage, and some of the windows were filled in. After that, the same work was done on cars 1, 3, 5, and 7, and the installation work spread to all cars except cars 9 and 10.
◆Like the E5 series, it is in use on "Hayabusa" and other services that connect Tokyo to Shin-Hakodate-Hokuto. It can also be seen coupled with the E6 series Shinkansen.
