Description

The EF60 500 series appeared in 1963 as a tow machine replacement for the 20 series blue train that had been towed by the EF58 until then. The blue body + cream color of the front and the style of the side band became the standard paint color of the new electric locomotive that was inherited by the later EF65. In addition to the sleeper limited express "Asakaze", it is active mainly in the "Sakura" connected to the power supply car Kani 22, and is important to the history of the Tokaido Blue Train.
