Description
[DF50 equipped with Sulzer type engine, active in Shikoku]
●DF50 is a diesel locomotive whose prototype was manufactured in 1957 to make non-electrified sub-main lines smokeless, and was added to the lineup until 1963. The power transmission method is electric, with the main motor driven by DC power generated by a generator directly connected to the diesel engine. Among them, the 0 series was equipped with an engine manufactured by Shin Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, which had a technical partnership with Sulzer of Switzerland, and was widely used in the Shikoku region, including the Tosan Main Line (now the Tosan Line).
◆DF50 Shikoku type is now available with new specifications. Compared to conventional products, the characteristics of the Shikoku type, such as the skirt and release lever, are reproduced more precisely with a new mold, and the number plate is inserted, and the front handrail is improved to make it easier to attach. A two-car set compatible with multiple-unit operation will also be released. It is ideal for towing the simultaneously scheduled release of the 8089/10-2007 Hoki 5200 Tosa Lime Industry Co., Ltd., as well as passenger and freight cars.
