Description
The current Tokyo Metro Co., Ltd. (commonly known as Tokyo Metro) was established in 2004 after being privatized from the Teito Rapid Transit Corporation (commonly known as Eidan Subway). The Marunouchi Line was opened in 1954 as the first subway line after the war, and will celebrate its 70th anniversary in 2024. The 300 type appeared on the same route with a novel outfit that surprised the world. Not only did it have a bright red body with white belts and a stainless steel sign curve (silver wave decoration), but it was also a high-performance vehicle that adopted various new technologies, and later evolved into the 400 and 500 types. It served as the face of the Eidan Subway. In later years, the 300 and 500 types were used together to create a formation, and were retired in 1996, but in 2016, four cars transferred overseas returned home, and three were restored. It is preserved at Nakano Vehicle Depot.
