Description
The DD51, which was active in passenger transportation in Hokkaido, adopted the image of the sleeper express "Hokutosei" that was born with the opening of the Seikan Tunnel in 1988, and from the summer of the same year, all coaches changed to No. 20 blue with a gold belt. In addition to towing sleeper express trains coming from Honshu, such as the Hokutosei, this loco also pulled various passenger trains such as the sleeper expresses Marimo, Daisetsu, Rishiri, and Hamanasu that ran within Hokkaido, and group trains.
