PROTOTYPE DETAILS
WAMU 80000 made the debut in 1960 as a 15-ton 2-axle covered-freight-car to meet increased pallet transport in the time of mechanization of cargo handling. All the both sides of the car body can be opened by the large side doors. It is a standard freigh t car proud of the number of produced cars, 26,605 cars, the most, in the Japanese railways history. 28000s are a group of the majority made with the extended distance between axles for stable traveling. WAMU 380000 is remodeled to use roller bearings for easier maintenance. The outside paint was changed into the so-called freight car blue in 1991 to 1993.
