Description
The 287 series is a DC limited express train developed by JR West based on the 683 series.
It was introduced in 2011 as a vehicle with improved safety, comfort, and convenience, replacing the conventional 183 series and 381 series. In addition to being active as the ``Kounotori'', commercial operation began in March 2012 as the ``Kuroshio'' to replace the conventional 381 series, and is still active today.
The 287 series Panda Kuroshio is a wrapped vehicle commemorating the 30th anniversary of the establishment of JR West in 2017 (2017) and the 40th anniversary of the opening of Adventure World (Shirahama Town, Wakayama Prefecture) in 2018 (2018). This is a popular vehicle with an impressive panda face on the front of the vehicle and designs of various scenes of animals active in the park on the sides. Initially, only one train was scheduled to be in operation until November 2019, but operation continued after that, and a second train and a third train with a new design were introduced one after another, and it is still a popular train today.
