Description
-The E657 series is the star express train on the Joban Line that was introduced in 2011 as an AC/DC express train for the Joban Line.
In line with the Ibaraki Destination Campaign in 2023, the E657 series has been painted with a design reminiscent of the old E653 series "Fresh Hitachi," attracting attention not only from people along the line but also from many railway fans. The actual train is available in a total of five colors, and the second in KATO's lineup will be the red-painted K12 train.
-This train is ideal for running alongside trains in service at JR East, or as part of a collection of the five colors currently in progress.

â‘ The K12 train belonging to the Katsuta Vehicle Center is commercialized.
â‘¡The scarlet blossom revival paint scheme is based on the E653 series "Fresh Hitachi" (red), which has a red plum motif.
â‘¢The symbol mark (red: plum and Kobuntei), which differs for each train, is reproduced.
â‘£The insulators and high-voltage equipment around the pantograph, which are unique to AC/DC trains, as well as the train radio antenna and WiMAX antenna on the roof are reproduced.
⑤The use of a slotless motor achieves smooth and quiet running.
â‘¥The intermediate coupling section is equipped with a body-mounted KATO close-coupled coupler and an inter-car damper as standard.
⑦The underfloor equipment, bogie, inter-car damper, and leading car dummy coupler are gray.
⑧The front and side windows are tinted green, just like the actual train.
