Description
The 885 series is an AC limited express train equipped with a pendulum mechanism developed by JR Kyushu based on the 883 series. In 2000, it began to play an active role on the Nagasaki Main Line as "Kamome" in order to replace the conventional 485 series and improve speed. The following year, in 2001, it was expanded for "Sonic" and the active line section was expanded to the Nippou Main Line, and it is playing an active part as a conventional line limited express vehicle representing Kyushu.
From 2010, the yellow band of the primary car that appeared as "white seagull" has been repainted with a blue band to match the additional secondary car, and the logo marks of various parts of the car body have also changed from "seagull" to " It has been changed to "AROUND THE KYUSHU" and is active as "Kamome" and "Sonic".
