Description
The ED76 JR Freight test livery was introduced in 1988, shortly after the transition to JR, replacing the previous solid Red No. 2 livery with a distinctive new livery featuring shades of blue with a white stripe. A total of eight locomotives were stationed at Moji Locomotive Depot, and they served mainly freight trains throughout Kyushu, as well as passenger trains such as the Blue Train. They particularly attracted attention when they were used to tow the Orient Express '88, which arrived in Japan around the time the livery was introduced. They remained in service until 1992, when all locomotives underwent a general inspection and were reverted to their original solid Red No. 2 livery.
This is the first production model of the ED76 JR Freight test livery, featuring a vivid blue hue. It's perfect for recreating Kyushu freight trains, as well as for towing the 10-561/562 Orient Express '88, which are scheduled for simultaneous reproduction.
