Description
The ED75 0 series was developed in 1963 when the Joban Line was electrified with AC power up to Taira Station (now Iwaki Station). This AC (50Hz) electric locomotive was the successor to the ED71, which served on the Tohoku Main Line. A total of 160 units were manufactured. It served on the Tohoku Main Line (north of Kuroiso) and the Joban Line from Taira to Aomori, and was used in a variety of applications, from pulling freight trains to regular passenger cars and Blue Trains.
It was the ideal locomotive for pulling passenger and freight trains in the Tohoku region during the JNR era. It's also recommended for recreating the express trains of the past by combining it with the 5281/5283/5284 JNR-specification Oha 14/Suha 14/Oha 15.
