Description
The Ou Main Line, which connects Fukushima and Aomori via Yamagata and Akita, departs from Fukushima and branches off to the Tohoku Main Line, where it tackles the steep Itaya Pass, the first hurdle crossing the Ou Mountains, the backbone of the Tohoku region. In 1968, with the full-scale electrification of the Tohoku Main Line, the Itaya Pass section up to Yonezawa was also converted from DC to AC. At the same time, the Itaya Pass was double-tracked, significantly improving its transport bottleneck. The ED78 was introduced for use on the Ou Main Line, as well as the Senzan and Ban'etsu West Lines, which have axle load restrictions. On the Ou Main Line, it hauled the Akebono sleeper express, 50 series passenger cars, and freight trains.
This product recreates the train's configuration with a train radio antenna on the roof. Along with the EF71 first generation JR specification and the 50 series 2000 passenger car JR specification, which are scheduled to be released at the same time, you can enjoy the former local trains of the Ou Main Line, Senzan Line, and Ban'etsu West Line.
