Description

82 EH500s were built, and they are two-body, eight-axle AC/DC electric locomotives that are used for hauling freight trains between the Tokyo metropolitan area and the Tohoku region, as well as freight trains in the Kanmon tunnel section.
Due to the driving support system introduced in 2008, GPS antennas on rooftops are being removed. Additionally, since around 2017, the JRF mark that was posted on the side of JR Freight-owned locomotives has been being removed.
