Description
The Yo3500 is an all-steel two-axle caboose of which 1,345 cars were manufactured since 1950. There is a wide variety of models, including new models and modified models from the Toki 900, and differences in appearance depending on the year of manufacture. The structure had a one-stage link undercarriage that was intended for operation at 75 km/h, but in the 1960s, with the trend of increasing the speed of freight trains, many vehicles were designed with two-stage links to support operation at 85 km/h. It was incorporated into Yo5000 after being linked. On the other hand, in Hokkaido and Shikoku, the speed of freight trains was low, so it continued to be used as the Yo3500. Yo3500 in Hokkaido had a raised chimney on its roof.
