Description
The ED75 was introduced in 1963 as the JNR's standard AC electric locomotive. Despite being a D-type, it was a dual-purpose freight/passenger locomotive with tractive force comparable to that of an F-type DC electric locomotive. Ninety-one 700-series locomotives were manufactured starting in 1971 in conjunction with the electrification of the Ou Main Line between Akita and Aomori. Because it operated along the Japan Sea coastline, its distinctive features included the inclusion of high-voltage equipment inside the car for resistance to salt damage, cold, and snow, as well as a clean rooftop with a cross-type pantograph that minimizes snow accumulation.
This locomotive was essential for passenger trains in the Tohoku region after the transition to JR. It comes with "Akebono" and "Elm" headmarks, allowing you to enjoy driving scenes of each train. It is also recommended for pulling the "Orient Express '88," which will be released at the same time.
