In 1988, the "Hokutosei" sleeper express train began operating between Ueno and Sapporo in conjunction with the opening of the Seikan Tunnel connecting Honshu and Hokkaido. Its deluxe-oriented service earned it rave reviews. This model, introduced in 2008, features a mixed train consisting of carriages from JR Hokkaido and JR East. Cars 1-6, including the lobby and B-class private sleeping compartments, are JR Hokkaido cars, while cars 7-11, centering on the dining car (Grand Chariot) and A-class private sleeping compartments, as well as the power car, are JR East cars. While it continued to operate as one of the few overnight sleeper express trains, its regular service ended in March 2015 due to preparations for the opening of the Hokkaido Shinkansen. It was then remodeled into a special service and operated until August of the same year.
This is a reproduction of the popular 24 Series "Hokutosei" sleeper express train, known as the last remaining Blue Train. Enjoy it alongside the upcoming 3066-E EF81 81 Hokutosei livery, the popular 3066-F EF81 95 Rainbow livery, and the 3076-3 ED79 Single-Arm Pantograph.
