In 1960, the diesel limited express Kiha 81 series, which was born as a hope for non-electrified sections, built the JNR limited express network together with the Kiha 82 series, which was born the following year, and contributed greatly to the modernization of passenger transportation.
After being active in "Hatsukari" between Ueno and Aomori at the time of its appearance, it was chased by electrification, etc., and moved to "Tsubasa" from 1968 (Showa 43), and in October 1969 (Showa 44). It was diverted to the newly established "Inaho". The "Hitachi", which was operated using the space between operations, appeared for the first time at this time, and the E657 series, which inherited the name, is still active as a limited express. -From 1972 (1972), it was active as the limited express [Kuroshio] on the Kisei Main Line, but with the completion of the electrification between Shingu and Wakayama in September 1978, it was retired and transferred to the 381 series. .
Item includes 1 car with no motor unit. Accurately reproduces the the window arrangement unique to the former green car of the Kiha 82 900.
The single Kiha 82 900 has a plain nickname display already installed. For replacement, "Hokuto" and "Okhotsk" and sabot stickers for both trains are included.
