The EF57 is a passenger-use DC electric locomotive representative of the pre-war Japanese National Railways, first introduced in 1940. Characterized by its bold style with front and rear bogie decks, it served on the Tokaido Main Line, pulling express trains such as the "Tsubame." It was later transferred to the Tohoku Main Line, where it was equipped with an electric heating system for passenger trains and used to pull express trains such as the "Hakkoda" and "Tsugaru" as well as local trains.
Among these, the top-ranking No. 1 locomotive features a squared-off body inspired by the second generation of the EF56 (8-12) and a centrally positioned pantograph, giving it a significantly different appearance from the No. 2 and subsequent locomotives.
This product is a reproduction. Starting with this model, a slotless motor will be used for power. The leading wheels will also be replaced with wheels with missing spokes.
