●JR Freight's EH800 is the first dual-voltage AC electric locomotive since the transition to JR, replacing the ED79 and EH500, which will no longer be able to operate on the Tsugaru Kaikyo Line due to the opening of the Hokkaido Shinkansen between Shin-Aomori and Shin-Hakodate-Hokuto. The EH800 is equipped with an LCX antenna, a train radio system similar to that of the Shinkansen, and the two end side bodies are equipped with LCX antennas, which give it a unique bulge. In addition to towing freight trains between Higashi-Aomori and Goryokaku, it also served as the tow of the group-only train "Cassiopeia Cruise" from June 2016 to February 2017. From vehicles that underwent general inspections after 2022, the JRF mark on the side was removed one by one, the paint on the running equipment was changed, and the undercarriage was repainted dark gray.
◆A lineup of EH800 AC electric locomotives, which are mainly used in the Seikan Tunnel, is now available in their current specifications, with the JRF mark removed.
Main Features
・The bulge of the LCX antenna installed on the side of both cars and the electrostatic antenna similar to that of the Shinkansen installed on the roof of the driver's cab are reproduced.
・The silver that represents the sense of speed that is conscious of the Shinkansen on the red car body and the white line that connects Honshu and Hokkaido are beautifully reproduced.
・Handrails, release lever, signal flare, electrostatic antenna, train radio antenna, and whistle cover are already installed.
・Stable running is possible with the use of a flywheel-mounted power unit.
・Headlights are lit (using warm white LED).
・Arnold coupler is standard equipment. Includes replacement knuckle couplers.
-Reproduces the appearance of the train after undergoing a general inspection after 2022 (Reiwa 4) and the JRF mark has been removed.
